Riyadh, Saudi Arabia - Saturday, October 12, 2024
Saudi authorities in Riyadh have arrested seven foreigners, including three Indian nationals, for their involvement in a public brawl. The arrests were made after a video of the fight circulated widely on social media platforms.
In an official statement, the General Directorate of Public Security confirmed that police were alerted to the incident after the viral video came to their attention. The footage showed several individuals engaged in a physical altercation at a public location in the city.
The suspects were identified and apprehended with the assistance of the Cybercrime Control Unit. Alongside the three Indian nationals, individuals from Afghanistan were also taken into custody.
All arrested individuals have been referred to the public prosecution for legal action. Authorities have also launched a search for the person who filmed the incident and uploaded it online, stating that they too will face charges under the cybercrime law.
In a related but separate incident, Riyadh police also arrested a Saudi citizen for fighting in public, another case that gained attention due to a viral social media video. The Public Security Directorate emphasized that legal measures will be taken against anyone who disturbs public order or shares such content online.
